Matariki lantern design

For this activity we had to find pictures of the lantern we wanted to make for matariki,This is mine I made the one that is circled and is called stars in a jar, It looks way better at night tho.

This week at our school is Matariki today. We got to create our own lantern. I did mine at home tho how I made it was I cut up and painted tinfoil wrapped it around the lantern and cut some holes into it at night the whole thing lights up and its really pretty in day its not that pretty but its kind of cool.  This is it in day. Matariki Bird harvest

For this activity we had to find out 3 birds from the Matariki harvest say their names and draw them, I drew the first picture and the last picture then my friend drew the second picture as a very quick rough sketch, The 3rd one I drew was a very quick rough sketch aswell. Hope you enjoy and I added facts about the birds to.

For this activity we had to create a Matariki poster and act like your inviting people to it, I made my one on a google drawing. I hope you enjoy this activity this was fun to make.

Matariki Kite Day

Our group made a kite out of a black rubbish bag, paper,string, a toilet roll, colour and bamboo.

First we got the bamboo and made it into a star, then we stuck the bamboo on the rubbish bag with a hot glue gun.  Next we made stars then coloured them, cut them out and stuck them on the back of the kite. After that I thought about making a Matariki name in the middle of the kite so I did. I did it in bubble writing and also I cut it out. I had help with the bubble writing though.  After that we stuck the string on the toilet roll and with coloured pens we wrote Matariki on it. Then we glued the top of the string near the top so it could fly a bit higher.  I hope you liked our kite!
